Pesto is the Besto

I know, I know, my title is corny, but isn't pesto really the besto?

Pesto with 8 whole grain penne pasta, steamed greenbeans*, and leaf lettuce* with olives and caesar dressing from La Dolce Vegan. So good!

For the pesto, I used this recipe, using hemp oil in place of the olive oil. The basil was bought at my town's farmers and artisans market. I should probably just be glad my town has a farmers market, but it's really lame. Every year I go down thinking it will get better, but it never is. There are only two places selling produce! The rest of the people are selling meat, cheese, arts and crafts, jewelry or baked goods. It's kind of annoying because the arts and crafts and jewelry aren't that good. Anway, I went down last Saturday, and it was kind of depressing, just looking around at everything. We only went to see the band that was playing, so I have a feeling we won't be going down again.

Moving on.......
The pasta is so cool! It has whole wheat, whole grain rye, whole grain buckwheat, whole grain kamut, whole grain spelt, whole grain millet, whole grain barley, and whole grain brown rice. The brand is Racconto if anybody is wondering. It's supposed to take 9 minutes to cook, but it took me a little longer (maybe 12 minutes), but that's my only complaint.

That's all!

Too bad about the farmers market. I'm pretty fortunate that I have several around me, though none of them real close.

That dish looks delicious. I've never had pesto.
