Today was beautiful! Spring is my favorite season and today was just perfect. It's something about the renewal of the earth after the dead of winter. That, and the seasonal food (e.g. asparagus) that makes me loooove spring. I had a guitar lesson today, and then just decided to procrastinate the rest of the day away:o) For din-din (a slightly lazy meal, I must say) we had:

carrot sticks, cucumber sticks*, sliced tomatoes*, red and yellow bell peppers*, lettuce* with Peppery House dressing (from The Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook),
Imagine creamy broccoli soup with steamed broccoli*, steamed yellow squash*, black pepper, and basil*,
ham and cheeze pita sandwiches (made from Lightlife ham slices*, Chick Cheeze from The Uncheese Cookbook, sprouts*, red onion*, and Ezekial pita)
and ricemilk

Unfortunately, because of my braces I can't have hard or crunchy foods so all the raw veggies (except for the lettuce and tomato) were out for me. No matter though, I had plenty of nutrients (all it takes is a little creativity and a juicer, people) in my meals. Here's what I had today:

carrot-apple*-ginger* juice (I guess this is a common juice recipe, but I got it from The Garden of Vegan)
soy yogurt
oatmeal with flax oil and gomashio

millet, sauteed swiss chard, nutritional yeast, tahini, and lemon juice (the nutritional yeast, tahini, and lemon juice make a kind of cheesy tasting sauce)

and then dinner.

I'm reading this through and by gosh, Rachel brings home loads of stuff!
Today she brought home collards, kale, tomatoes, scallions, chard, lettuce, potatoes, cilantro, and Bread Alone bread (except that it has white flour, so I won't eat it). There might have been more but it's hard to keep track. lol.
The food's not alway's bad, sometimes they just get new shipments and such, so we get it. Yay!

I've been thinking that I would compile a list of cookbooks that I have (and lord knows, I have a lot of cookbooks.) I'm getting more from Amazon too:o
I'll post my list soon, so stay tuned.

Today's March 28, so that mean's a new episode of House! That's what I'll be watching in a little while....

I don't watch that much TV, but right now I watch House (funny, but a little stupid at times), Veronica Mars ( the first season was good, now it's a little trashy), and Top Chef (so much drama, so little cooking). My family used to be addicted to Law & Order: SVU, but we've outgrown the addiction, thankfully.

I guess that's all for now. See you later, alligators.

Hello from England. Your food sounds great. So much is only in season during the summer months in the UK and then it's often imported from Europe. I'm longing for a fresh salad with cucumber and tomatoes.

Some of the vegetables that Rachel brings home from work are imported from other countries, so I totally hear you. For example, the bell peppers are from Israel, and the grapes are from South Africa! I couldn't believe it when I first saw the labels, but they are organic! I would never in a million years buy the food, but since Rachel brings it home, I don't want to see it go to waste.
