Well, I know I said my next post would be a cookbook review, but I couldn't get my act together in time and now I'll be away till Sunday night. I'm going to be staying with Susan at her apartment in Hunter again, because the Catskill Mountain Foundation is having their Mountain Culture Festival this weekend and I'm volunteering at it. I get to stay inside, away from the sun, thank god! (I burn extremely easily.) Blue eyes, brown hair, and pale skin + too much sun= disaster waiting to happen.
Anyway, I made some food to bring up, but there will also be food vendors, and I'm hoping that there will be something I can eat, because I saw the list of vendors and there's going to be a salad hut, a falafel place, an Indian food vendor, and the farm market will be serving veggie burgers. If all else fails I can eat some fruit sorbet! :O
To bring, I made a frittata, which I just made up as I went along. It's made from navy beans, arrowroot, nutritional yeast, s&p, dried basil, tumeric, ham flavored seitan, and steamed broccoli and topped with a faux cheese sauce. In case you're wondering why it's all so vague (the ham flavored seitan, the faux cheese sauce), it's because I'm planning on doing cookbook reviews of all the cookbooks I use, and I don't want to give anything away yet. I promise I'm going to start the reviews soon.
I also made some black-eyed pea/rice burgers and some braised greens and steamed turnips. I just made the burger recipe up in my head and haven't tasted it yet, but if it's good I'll post it on my recipe blog.
I guess that's all, I better get ready to leave!
