It's been quite hectic since I last blogged, but I'll try to remember what I did and blog about it.

On Friday night I saw a movie called Why We Fight.

On Saturday, Rachel had to work, so we dropped her off and then went galavanting around to flea markets and garage sales. I found an awesome bread box. I'm not going to put bread in it (it's a little dirty), but I think I'm going to put jewelry or something else in it. I also found a set of yellow fiesta dishes, consisting of eight yellow plates, four bowls, and four cups. In the evening we went to see Rachel's piano teacher give a concert with a violinist. Susan is interning at the Catskill Mountain Foundation, so she has an apartment up there for when she works. We brought her home with us on Saturday night.

On Sunday, I finally used my food processor! I can't believe I waited so long to use it! It works so well, I just love it so much. First I made bread crumbs with it, using stale bread Rachel brought home. Then I made a carrot slaw with it, followed by the Hot For Hummus recipe from Vegan Planet. It calls for harissa, but I didn't have any, so I left it out. This hummus was a big hit. I made up a batch, and then I thought, hmm, I better make another batch, because we're all hummus fiends (well, except for my dad) . I'm glad I made more, because we ate a whole batch up right away. :O After the hummus, I made a batch of pesto using this recipe. The only thing I changed was I substituted sunflower seeds for the walnuts, because I didn't have any walnuts and I'm trying to use my sunflower seeds up. On Sunday night, we went to see The Notorious Betty Page. I liked it, but I was a little disappointed because It was basically Gretchen Mol (Betty) dancing and posing.

On Monday, I made Boston Baked Beans and Steamed Boston Brown Bread, both from The Passionate Vegetarian. I've always loved baked beans, and this recipe is my favorite so far. The steamed bread is really cool (and easy) to make. It's just what it sounds like, bread steamed in a pot. I make it in (empty) bean cans.

Yesterday night I had a guitar lesson, which always consists of an hour of my mom and me talking to my teacher and his wife, my hour long lesson, and then more talking. My teacher and his wife have several cats, and one of them had a litter of kittens about a month ago. I only saw one kitten (a black one) yesterday, but it was so tiny and cute. I'm trying to convince my mom to let us adopt one, but so far it isn't working.

Anyway, here are some pictures:

My awsome bread box. I couldn't resist putting my way cool sunglasses in the picture.

The yellow Fiesta bowls. (I didn't want to break the table by putting the cups and plates on it)

The hummus. Yum!

The carrot slaw. All that was in it was grated carrots (using my food processor to grate the carrot!), minced parsley, and Peppery House Dressing from The Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook (I used flax oil in place of the olive oil it called for).

Boston Baked Beans and a big chunk of Steamed Brown Bread.

Gee Whiz Spread (made in the food processor).

Last but not least (well, picture wise it's least, but that's because it was raining out so I had to take the picture inside, where the lighting is bad) we have quinoa with the aforementioned pesto, saucy pepper sauce (using red and yellow peppers Rachel brought home), and Sofcheez crumbles (supposed to be like goat cheese crumbles) from The Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook. This was really good, and it reminded me of torta, which is goat cheese, pesto, and roasted red pepper puree layered together.

That's all.

Ohh, this all looks so good! Especially the slaw! I adore my food processor too, although I wish it had a slightly smaller bowl. I love garage sales too and I recently decided to start collecting interesting crockery so I love the bowls and plates!

Take a look at this link - it's an entry of feedback from yesterday's comments...my own spam blocker wouldn't let me post it in comments! Sheesh!
